Yes, yours truly graduated from Coe College with a Physical Education Major. I'm an honest guy and will admit I only went to college to play sports, studies be damned. Basically, I wanted to have some fun and those who scoffed at me for being flippant about my inability to take college life seriously----Well, you should see me now.
After graduation in '68 and meeting the love of my life 9 months later I began feeling badly about my chosen major. Don't get me wrong. I know guys and gals who toiled on gym floors and playing fields. And these folks are wonderful people but I wanted something more so I pursued another major; one in American History. All one has to do is say them both and one sounds somewhat more prestigious than the other even though as teachers we received the same salaries.
Last night I was watching the news about France and terrorists and all that jazz. The President of France, a socialist(what else), Francois Hollande, made a pronouncement. Allow me to parse his words, "In the name of humanity we will continue our policy of accepting 30,000 more Syrian refugees"
What am I missing from Hollande? I expect these words from Mr. Obama but from a guy whose country has experienced such a horrendous massacre?
I haven't done biographical research on Hollande. I should. He might have matriculated in Physical Education.
