What Else Did Brian Lie About

You've heard the axiom. You can tell about a persons character by the little things they do. Now, don't get me wrong. Regarding Brian Williams I've told some fibs in my life. You might even call them gross exaggerations. But, they were so infinitesimal none come to mind. Oh, I've related some whoppers when I tell a humorous story or joke. Who hasn't? I have not, to my knowledge, kept on with a charade for my own benefit. For instance, I never once told anyone I caught the winning pass in the 1970 Super Bowl.

The main point of this exercise is a lie can't be considered as such unless it changes history or has an impact on people's lives. Brian Williams is a supposed journalist but in today's world journalism, investigative reporting, has taken on a new meaning because there are no such thing as journalists. They are bound to a code to tell the truth. Writers are bound by honor not to steal the words of others. It's common sense and by distorting this code it could get a person fired. If you don't believe me then ask Dan Rather.

If Mr.Williams lied about his experience in Iraq did he lie about other stories? His integrity is now in question and it will be forever more. He may have brought on another case of self-serving adulation by telling of the Iraq story.

In 2005 he was in New Orleans covering Hurricane Katrina, according to his own recollection. He stated that while there, in his hotel room in the French Quarter, he witnessed the ravages of death and destruction. While looking out the window, according to the NBC standard bearer, he personally witnessed bodies floating down the street. That, my friends, would be a sight indelibly imprinted on one's mind; like being shot down while in a helicopter in Iraq.

It's tough making a statement in this world without someone checking up on you. I do it on an almost daily basis because I'm a skeptic.

It seems someone at the Army Corp. of Engineers in New Orleans did the same. The results are this. According to the Corp. at the time Williams was in his room the French Quarter that part of town had not seen any flood waters. Uh-oh. I feel a song coming on. It's called "Bridge over troubled water"

Does this mean Williams made this story up out of thin air? Nah, it couldn't be because news people are honorable, promise to be square and obey the law of the pack.

It's doubtful much will come of this since it's a part of the news cycle; something different every week to fill slots. God forbid we discuss beheadings of children, private citizens and females who don't submit to their husbands. Then again, it might be that the mainstream media thinks those stories are all lies and not note worthy. Let's call them skeptics.
